St. Francis House Fundraisers, Events and News:

Message from the Director:

Happy New Year Everyone! I wish to again thank all of you who donated food, gifts, clothing and other essentials during the Holidays season and throughout the year.

Although we are now in 2012, I wish to update you on the progress we made in 2011. While some doors were shut on our efforts, other doors opened with additional opportunities. St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church teamed up with us and allowed us to lease their apartment building at 64 Washington Street. Now we have not only emergency shelter but transitional

housing! This is a huge step in our 28 year organization. Another door was opened when

we gained the ability to purchase 76 Washington Street. This apartment building is allowing us to provide emergency shelter for families with children and more transitional housing. This is the ONLY emergency shelter for families in St. Johns County. What a blessing and a wonderful opportunity to help families when they need it the most. In September 2011, The Memorial

Presbyterian Church challenged the St. Francis House to match a $50,000 grant within one year. Letters were written, presentations given and prayers said. Instead of a year to reach our goal, gifts received during the month of December, coupled with pledges yet to be paid, permit us

to meet and exceed our matching grant goal! Thank you to everyone who donated and

especially to Pastor Dudley Weaver and the members at Memorial Presbyterian Church for helping us help the homeless and less fortunate.

God Bless –

Renee’ Morris
